How-to : Choosing the right jar for my EcoTrap Hornet trap

Essential characteristics of the jar

Shape

Cylindrical, with a height of approximately 15 cm.
The round shape promotes even distribution of the bait. The 15 cm height allows the entry device (trap head) to be placed at mid-height, optimizing access.

Ability

Minimum 500 mL – recommended capacity 720 mL.
Too small a volume limits the number of hornets trapped and reduces the time before the trap needs to be reset. 720 mL offers a good compromise between autonomy (approximately 7 to 10 days) and ease of use.

Material

Choose a glass jar.

Closing

Twist-off TO82 – screw-on lid with an 8 cm diameter.
The majority of vegetable canning jars sold in supermarkets or grocery stores have a compatible closure.
Even if the opening diameter differs by a few millimeters, the Hornet EcoTrap trap head generally adjusts without any problems thanks to its screwing tolerance.
