Prepare the trap installation
Materials needed
- The jar you chose
- Complete Hornet EcoTrap trap (head + accessories depending on the model)
- Attractive mixture
- Cotton, absorbent paper, or wood shavings
- String or strong wire for hanging the trap
Steps
- Pour a few centiliters of the bait you have prepared into your jar.
- Add cotton wool, absorbent paper, or shredded material. This layer prevents insects from drowning. This includes bees, flies, and other non-target insects, as well as hornets. When alive, their pheromones will naturally attract others of their kind, thus increasing the trap's effectiveness .
- Screw the trap head onto the jar
-
Hanging model
Recommended in hedges, branches or structures of medium height to increase the visibility of the trap.- Thread wire (or strong string) through the 4 hanging holes located around the trap head
- Clip on the rain cover
-
Tabletop model
Ideal near beehives or stable areas of the garden where the wind is less strong.- Clip the rain cap onto the trap head
- Clip the support feet into the space without the escape hole (where marked Hornet Ecotrap). The two small chevrons must be positioned visibly, towards the front of the trap.
The trap is ready to be set.
