How-to : During the capture phase

Once your Hornet EcoTrap is installed, it's important to regularly monitor the trap's condition and the amount of bait, and adjust as needed to optimize your catches. Here's an operational checklist you can follow.

Trap monitoring - every 2-3 days

  • Inspect the jar: no cracks, no leaks
  • Check that the trap head is securely screwed on and that all components (roof, rain cap, feet) are in place
  • Check that the suspension system is functioning correctly (for the suspended version).
  • Check the level and effectiveness of the bait (still active odor, color, fermentation...)
  • Capture count: note the number of hornets captured and whether other species are present

Once the bait is exhausted or ineffective, or if the trap is full of hornets, it's time to replace it. See the next guide.

Possible adaptations during the capture phase

Strategic repositioning

If after a few days the catches are low, try changing the location:

  • Areas frequently used by hornets.
  • Near natural food sources (flowering areas, fruit trees)
  • Water sources or areas near beehives
